Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all. Thanks Jim for doing the site. I
really enjoy it. May be heading to Philly in the spring - maybe we can get
together. I blew through in October on the way to see my son in Kentucky. Didn't
stay long enough to say hi. Got in at ten PM and left at 9 AM. Say hi to Marie
and hope to see you soon. Are you keeping the Little John Shoe polished?? My
brother says there is another one somewhere at his house. I will have to look
for it and make a desk set for myself.

Ah...here we go.... Put this out for discussion. Who would be willing to
record on dvd the NFL playoffs and SuperBowl and send to me? Maybe that is a
bit much to ask but for person willing to do it, I will be eternally thankful.
Last yr. was the first yr. of my life that I saw zero football.

Was just contacted regarding Class 24-66 by Sam Dauer. What a surprise to say
the least. I am alive and kicking in Crystal Lake, IL., retired from the
Reserves in '98 and from the civilian world in 2005. Great to know that the web
page exists and I will stay in touch.

Hello to all of Donn's classmates~ I have started a blog about Donn and the book
His Name Was Donn: My Brother's Letters from Vietnam. I hope very much that some
of you will visit the blog and leave comments or stories about Donn. Here is the
link: www.evelynsweet-hurd.com. The best thing about having written the book is
that Donn's voice and personality are resonating again! I am sure that you all
agree with me when I say that we all have missed him terribly. My best to you
all, and "Welcome Home," Evie Sweet-Hurd, Donn's "little sister"

Graduate of OCS Class 12-64, Ft. Sill, MACV 68-69 ARVN Bn Advisor, RA-ADA
1962-1972. Good to be able to relate with so many of fellow class-mates and to
find you have had similar experiences. It is hard to identify with veterans in
central Washington State about being an OCS officer and the RIF, since almost
every one here knows little about what we went through to get our "Brownie Bar".
Thank you.

Hi guys! Since I retired from civilian life in
October 07 and Military in June 93 I have time to enjoy the web site. Thanks "Wambi"
for doing such a great job. Thinking about making the Ft. Sill reunion in May.
Trying to work out the details with the CO. She is still working and we have to
check on how much vacation she will have. "Short Round" (Dauer), I am still
looking for a set of my old Butter bars. Don't give up on me yet. rIcH

If any of you Officers utilize USAA Insurance as your carrier of choice
for Automobile Insurance, please read my message (shown below) to the
organization's leader. I'm pissed at the service and lack of concern for
members' expense.
"General Robles,
Yesterday afternoon I discovered that the rear window of my Subaru
Forester had been broken sometime overnight. During my conversation with the
police officer who responded to file an incident report I learned that many
automobiles in our section of town had been shot with BB's.
My call to USAA was answered by your time-consuming automated directory.
After pushing several buttons I received human assistance. When learning that my
claim was for auto glass replacement I was transferred to a third-party
administrator for USAA, Safelite Auto Glass.
They scheduled a "house call" for this morning after trying to sell me a
new set of windshield wiper blades for $21.88. The weather today was damp so
they contacted me and asked me to take the car to their facility for repair. I
complied ... dropping shards of glass into the car and onto the roadway with
every bump.
Here's my gripe. The total bill for repairs was $487.00. My portion was
the deductible amount of $250.00. Their web site states a total price of $196.06
(including PA sales tax) for a "consumer, non-insurance claim". After several
minutes of discussion with the manager and clerk, I was granted the price of
$196.06.
Why do you allow these rip-offs to be inflicted on your members?
How much are you paying this company to administer your glass program?
Why would you not use USAA's leverage to have a fair price quoted in the first
place?
By the way, when I picked-up the car, the interior had not been properly
cleaned of the glass fragments and the rear windshield wiper had been installed
180 degrees out of sync.
The only good result of the whole transaction is that I saved USAA and
myself some expense.
I do anticipate a prompt response from you on this issue."
Sincerely, James K. Wambold

I now live in Tampa and own a pool service business and manufacture tech sector
pool tools. I served in only one unit: 2d Battalion, 16th FA, 4th AD at Pinder
Barracks, Zirndorf, W. Germany from November, 1967 to April, 1970. I took a
'European Out' with my then-wife, Nancy, and toured Southern Europe for 4 months
and came back through the N'berg area and said goodbye to all of our
friends..Mike and Bev Lucas among them. He's a 24-66 grad, I think. Lots of
water under bridge for all of us I'm sure. Would like to catch up with any and
all of you whom I knew in another lifetime. Fond Regards, Tal Millican Tampa FL
